12/01/2012 Workplace Health & Safety Advisory Council Annual Report 2010-11 page 8 Activities of the Workplace Health and Safety Advisory Council for 2010-11 The Council met four times throughout 2010-11: 18 August 2010 15 November 2010 (Alice Springs) 22 February 2011 11 May 2011 The Council conducts a public forum and holds a meeting once a year in Alice Springs. The Council was involved in developing the Business Plan for NT WorkSafe for 2011-12. The Council has addressed many issues during the year, including: Regular updates and feedback on the development of national model Work Health and Safety laws. Regular updates and feedback on the activities of Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA) including operationalising the national model Work Health and Safety laws, and national compliance campaigns, Consideration of enforcement and compliance activity including national compliance and enforcement policy; Report on NTWS 20 Territory Growth Towns remote visits plan; Consideration of NTWS communications activity including proposed safety handbooks and information bulletins, safety alerts, new web site, Safe Work Week activities and community safety awareness sessions; Consideration of activity of industry subcommittees; Consideration of statistical data relating to occupational health and safety and compliance and enforcement activity; and Focus on use of Quad bikes in primary industry sector, including national safety campaigns; Focus on fatigue and fitness for work issues, particularly in resources and transport sectors Focus on transport industry issues including national legislation.
