Paytens mum, Pam Crosado, 25, was nearing her due date when the circus made the seven-day trek from Cairns to Darwin. The circus nanny and partner Shaun Webb, who is part of the circuss tent crew, were worried when they left Cairns and thought the firsttime mum could end up giving birth at Three Ways or somewhere equally isolated. She (Payten) had other ideas, Ms Crosado said. She was waiting for Darwin she wanted to be a Darwin baby. Payten Tewai Mary Webb made her grand entrance into the world at 3.48am on Wednesday June 11, 16 days after the circus had arrived in Darwin. Ms Corsado, who has been part of the circus for the past seven years, said she was unable to wait to take her bub back to the show. Its probably too quiet forher (in hospital) because she would be used to all the music and noise, she said. Its not even going to faze her, thats her life bright lights and music. Ms Crosado said Payten was a little superstar who would grow up living the circus lifestyle. The circus has a fulltime school teacher and kids go to school from nine to three like any other kids. After school they do ballet or gymnastics and their tutors are from all over the world, she said. Baby Payten travelled from Newcastle to Darwin before she was born and by the time she is five days old she will be travelling with the circus to Alice Springs. Payten takes the number of children travelling with the circus to 15 and thats soon to increase. My sister-in-law is due in three months so Payten will have a cousin in the circus soon, Ms Corsado said. For more circus action, see our picture spread onP14, 15
