Argentine hit hard over kick DAVID Nalbandian might have never won a grand slam, but he is now the owner of the most expensive kick in tennis history. The Argentine was fined $12,500 as well as forfeiting almost $60,000 for lashing out and striking linesman Andrew McDougall in the AEGON Championships final at Queens Club. And, to make matters worse, the former world No. 3 now faces a Scotland Yard investigation after a complaint of assault was made to police. The ATP World Tour yesterday hit Nalbandian with the maximum fine of $12,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct. Nalbandian automatically forfeited his prize money and (150) ranking points due to his conduct default, an ATP spokesperson said. Police confirmed they were investigating a complaint of alleged assault against Nalbandian after the injury to McDougall. We are aware of an incident at the AEGON Championships on June 17, a Scotland Yard spokesman said. A complaint has been made and the Metropolitan Police Service is now investigating. The allegation is of assault. The ATP insists Nalbandian will not be suspended for the incident. Nalbandian apologised to McDougall immediately after kicking the hoarding, which hit the linesman. The US Open champion was upstaged in the first round of the UNICEF Open at s-Hertogenbosch by Belgiums world No. 262 Kirsten Flipkens. Stosurs 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 loss revived uncomfortable memories of the world No. 5 and top seeds first-round failure against Melinda Czink at Wimbledon last season. But the Gold Coaster believes she can quickly regroup before Mondays start. I dont know what the secret recipe for doing well at Wimbledon is, so Im not going to freak out over that, she said. Thats why you play these lead-up tournaments for matches and for confidence and all that. Im not going to get down on myself I lost and thats all it is. Ill play some practice sets when I get down to London. Wimbledon is Stosurs worst grand slam with only five wins from nine visits. She is unbowed by the loss to Flipkens, convinced better form is on the horizon. Overall, I was quite happy with the way that I played, she said. It wasnt anything too disastrous. Its a matter of going out there again tomorrow and practising hard. The match was US Open champion Stosurs first since her French Open semi-final loss to Italian Sara Errani. But her hopes of regaining confidence and form ahead of Mondays start at the All England Club were shattered with a puzzling display.
