Under the supervision of the Regional Co-Ordinator, this position is responsible for the provision and supervision of reception, general administrative services and management of the Permit System in the West Arnhem Regional Office. Your responsibilities will include the acceptance, processing and data entry of all permits for the West Arnhem Region, collection and administration of fees, liaison with Traditional Landowners over visitor use of their land, as well as with Mining Companies, Government agencies, commercial operators and tourists. Applicants need to have an understanding of Aboriginal culture with the ability to communicate clearly with Aboriginal people. You will also possess initiative and the ability to work unsupervised and with discretion . Good computer knowledge and a current 'C' Class driver's licence are required. Reporting to the Senior Policy Adviser, the successful applicant will be primarily responsible for carrying out research and developing policy documents, producing reports, liaising and negotiating with relevant agencies and government departments on policy matters. Other duties will include advising the CEO and Full Council on policy issues and coordinating funding applications and submissions. You will require excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in policy analysis and development, and the ability to identify funding opportunities and negotiate accordingly. Knowledge of the practices and processes of government departments, authorities and political parties as they relate to Aboriginal people in the NT is essential.
