Their aim is to support and promote women in areas of professional development, leadership and to connect women through networking. Members come from a range of professions and business backgrounds including banking, government, travel, advertising, real estate, business development, retail, fitness and well being. The network is a great opportunity for women new to the Territory to meet locals and feel welcomed. You can attend networking functions and special events with interesting local speakers who inspire and motivate. As a grass roots organisation, we are in tune with the needs and values of Territory women. We listen closely to our members and our funds are spent as directed by our members. An important aim is to influence decisionmaking in the Territory so that the outcomes are positive for Territory women and girls. 2012 International Womens Day Breakfast Womens Network NT invites you to celebrate this important day when they recognise the achievements and contribution of women across the globe and honour womens advancement while diligently reminding us of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that womens equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life. Annually on 8th March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local womens craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more. The day provides an opportunity for communities to recognise the achievements of women and their contribution to our lives, as well as to reflect on the work still to be done to truly reach equality across all dimensions of our society. International Womens Day has been observed for more than 100 years. Along with a number of networking groups hosting events to celebrate International Womens Day, the City of Darwin will also be hosting the annual International Womens Day Walk and Community Morning Tea event. This popular event attracts community members from all age groups and walks of life. The event, held on Saturday 10 March 2012, is being jointly facilitated by the City of Darwin and the United Nations Association Australia NT and is proudly supported by the NT Government. The walk starts at 9:00 am at the steps of Parliament House, State Square.
