Theoni Chryssan, spokesperson for 6 Degrees Management, told ConfideNTial that the singer has been booked and all contracts have been signed for the anticipated affair on August 4. Touted as the largest outdoor ball in the southern hemisphere, organisers have typically aimed to keep an air of mystery surrounding the performers until the last minute. Earlier in the week, Darwin Turf Club marketing and communications manager Pina Somerville said she couldnt confirm which celebrity the Gala Ball organisers were in talks with just yet. But as soon as Gala Ball organisers realised ConfideNTial was about to reveal the line-up, a press release was issued late yesterday. MUSICAL Foursome Shari Sebbens, Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman and Miranda Tapsell are The Sapphires Sapphires go global A FILM starring three Territorians is looking to be a worldwide hit as it continues to be purchased by international distributors. London-based company Goalpost Film has sales of The Sapphires to the UK, France, Israel, Portugal and Canada at the European Film Market in Berlin. It has also been sold to Cinesky for airlines. The lead roles in The Sapphires are played by Deborah Mailman and NT girls Jessica Mauboy, Miranda Tapsell and Shari Sebbens. Directed by Wayne Blair, and produced by Goalpost Pictures Australias Rose mary Blight and Kylie du Fresne, The Sapphires is based on the smash-hit stage play of the same name. Chris ODowd stars alongside the four leading ladies. Set in 1968, the film is inspired by a true story. Sevens My Kitchen Rules (MKR) executive producer Rikkie Proost told ConfideNTial that MKR is really keen to have an NT team represented on the next series of the program. This is an opportunity for Territorians to do their state proud and showcase local produce, surrounds and prove that NT deserves a place in this competition, Mr Proost said. They get to travel the country sampling all of the contestants food, dining alongside two of this countrys greatest chefs in Pete Evans and Manu Feildel. And the prize money has skyrocketed to a cool $250,000 this year. Mr Proost says MKR has yet to include a team from the NT but its not too late to apply. Its not just Sevens cooking show thats searching for Territorians to put in the limelight.
