Sheens douses Dragons fire over Moltzen HAVING already survived two grudge matches without incident, Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens is refusing to fuel a third with jilted NRL rival St George Illawarra. Sheens No. 7, Tim Moltzen, will be public enemy No. 1 at WIN Jubilee Stadium on Friday night in his first clash against the club with whom he signed last year only to renege. The common theory is Moltzen stayed with the Tigers only after the club upgraded his contract when it became obvious Robert Luis days at Tigerland were numbered. No explanation would be enough to appease Dragons fans, who feel his U-turn left them undermanned for 2012, but Sheens refused to buy into speculation players would seek retribution on the field. I dont want to discuss Tim Moltzen. Its been discussed for weeks and weeks, Sheens said. Were thinking about playing football. Were one and one, and its an important game for both clubs. Asked why he didnt want to comment on the match-up, Sheens said: Because I dont want to add fuel to the fire. Its just ridiculous the way you guys (media) go on and on about it. We are just concentrating on footy. The Dragons claimed they do not hold any grudges against Moltzen. Not from me, Dragons skipper Ben Hornby said. Thats all behind us as well now. Were happy with the side weve got. Relief as Hayne, Gidley avoid long layoffs TWO NRL teams received positive news yesterday, with Parramattas Jarryd Hayne and Newcastles Kurt Gidley both relieved to have avoided longterm injuries. Gidley will be out for three to five weeks as he recovers from a dislocated shoulder. Veteran hooker Danny Buderus has been named skipper to face Brisbane in his absence. Hayne who initially feared he had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that would have required a full knee reconstruction remains uncertain about just how long he will be sidelined but he was confident his knee issue wasnt ove rly serious. He damaged scar tissue from the knee injury he suffered in last months trial match against Penrith, but he said he was relieved at news he had not done his ACL. I dont know (how long Ill be out). Its just about getting that stability (in the knee) back, Hayne said. As soon as I get that back, I know Ill be sweet. It feels all right. It is a bit shaky walking, but I can walk and thats probably a good sign. Eels centre Esi Tonga is set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in the 79th minute against the Warriors. Sharks shake up Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has reshuffled his halves combination after a disappointing loss RUGBY LEAGUE CRONULLA coach Shane Flanagan has reacted to Sundays dismal loss to Newcastle by dumping five-eighth Wade Graham to the bench while promoting recruit Jeff Robson for Mondays clash with Manly. Star signing Todd Carney, who played the first two rounds at halfback, has been shifted to five-eighth to accommodate Robson after Flanagan blasted the performance of his halves in the 18-6 loss to the Knights. Todd and Wade never played that well, Flanagan said. They didnt combine that well. They seemed to be working against each other on each side of the field. Weve got to do some work there. Parramatta recalled fullback Luke Burt and centre Ryan Morgan for the injured Jarryd Hayne (knee) and Esi Tonga (hamstring). Winger Ken Sio filled in at fullback when Hayne went down injured in the first half against the Warriors on Monday night, but said Burts experience would be a big plus for the side heading into Saturdays clash with North Queensland. Burty brings a lot of confidence to the back five and the whole team with his talk, Sio said. I would be ready to play fullback if they asked me, (but) Ive got to learn more of what I need to do in that position. Brisbane have been forced to do some reshuffling of their own following a thumb injury to lock Corey Parker, which will force him out of action for up to eight weeks. Veteran Petero Civoniceva returns to the starting line-up moving skipper Sam Thaiday to the backrow, while Ben Teo takes over the No. 13 jersey to face Newcastle. The Knights have picked youngster Ryan Stig to step into Kurt Gidleys five-eighth role following the shoulder injury to the NSW representative, and centre Timana Tahu (suspension) comes back in place of Junior Sau. New Zealand international Shaun Kenny-Dowall returns from a lacerated kidney to play his first match of the year for the Sydney Roosters when they face Canberra on Sunday. Canterbury were boosted by the inclusion of physical second-rower Frank Pritchard, who has served a one-match suspension for a high shot. The Wests Tigers will give Joel Reddy his run-on debut for the club against St George Illawarra, with the former Eel picked on the wing to step in for Matt Utai, who will miss four to six weeks with a knee injury. The Dragons named centres Beau Scott (cork) and Matt Cooper (ankle), despite neither tak ing part in the teams training session yesterday. Gold Coast off-season recruit Beau Champion will face his former team, Melbourne, in a reshuffled backline to account for the loss of winger David Mead (broken jaw).
