ONE-DAY WONDERS Dale Fletcher Federal ASbuild celebrate their six-wicket victory against West in the one-day final at Jim McConville Oval on Sunday Picture: DALE FLETCHER CRICKET FEDERAL ASbuild has claimed the Alice Springs Cricket Association one-day title with a sixwicket victory against West at Jim McConville Oval on Sunday. An impressive bowling and fielding display from the Demons restricted West to just 124 in 35 overs. Federal ASbuild captain/coach Sean Huddle said: The way we bowled and fielded today was the difference in the game. To keep them to 120-odd on that wicket was a great result. The Demons bowlers shared the wickets around with Ash Sahota claiming the best figures of 3/36. Six West batsmen reached double figures, but no one could push on to a big score. Nick Whyte was the top scorer with 21. However the Demons 24 extras went a long way to adding to Wests total. Huddle said: We bowled a few too many wides. We should have been chasing around 100, really. When Whyte was dismissed by Kev Thomas with the score on 60, Federal ASbuild changed the game, taking the last seven West wickets for just 64 runs. The Demons run chase was lead by a calm innings from Tom Clements, who finished unbeaten on 49. He said: Tommy was brilliant today. He really did bat well. Huddle came to the crease with the Demons needing 45 for victory, and smashed a quick-fire 34 to lead his side to their second piece of silverware for the 2011/12 season. He said: I knew if the ball was there to be hit I had the confidence I could clear the boundary. Huddle hit three sixes in his rapid knock as the Demons chased down the total with 18 overs to spare. He said: Its nice to have won both finals so far, but now we are focussed on winning the big one. Gibbo talks: P29
