Trainer Peter Moody last night revealed to News Limiteds Super Racing website that his unbeaten mare has been sent for a spell and will not contest Saturdays Futurity Stakes at Caulfield, or make a proposed trip to Dubai. Instead, the full focus of Black Caviars campaign will be the trip to the United Kingdom for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23. Yesterday, I put Nelly in the paddock at a destination that Im not disclosing as the mare deserves some peace and quiet for the next couple of weeks, Moody said. Theres nothing wrong with her to the contrary, shes at the top of her game but its all geared around having her at her peak when she flies ac ross to the Old Dart for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. Moody said he may race Black Caviar in either Adelaide or Brisbane before heading to the UK. The unbeaten mare won her 19th consecutive race in Saturdays Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington, which means she could go for her 20th at either Morphettville or Doomben a coup for either racetrack. I havent made up my mind yet, but she could either run in the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on April 28 or the Goodwood over the same distance and at the same track a fortnight later, he said. The other race that is in my thinking is the BTC Cup (1200m) the race she won last year at Doomben, which is also on May 12. She could even run in two races if I think she needs them. To my way of thinking she has to step on that plane in rock hard fitness, ready to race. Moody said he decided against a trip to Dubai for the $2 million Golden Shaheen on the way to Royal Ascot because he didnt want Black Caviar away from home for so long. She will now fly to England three weeks before the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. What concerned me about taking her to Dubai was the fact that she would be away from home for more than four months leading up to the Diamond Jubilee, he said. So, Black Caviar will spend a couple of weeks of R and R, just enjoying herself roaming around a paddock before heading to Peter Clarkes water walker complex up at Murchison then head back to the Caulfield stables. And from there we get her ready to take on the Poms at Royal Ascot. I cant wait, reckon Black Caviar will show them a thing or two.
