Chris Dunne kicked 10 goals in the 21.21 (147) to 8.7 (55) win at Gardens Oval to give Wanderers a muchneeded percentage boost as they crept to within 10 points of the top five. But Thornes season could be over after he was sent off in the second quarter for a serious act of misconduct after collecting Long, 18, high and behind play. Long was unconscious for a number of minutes and was taken to hospital in an ambulance that had already arrived for teammate Nathan Newcastle, also 18, who had suffered a dislocated knee in the first term. Both teams were reduced to 20 players after Eagle Edson Dos Reis was helped off the field in the second quar ter, the victim of a crunching tackle. Darwin came out after half-time and kicked the first two goals to reduce the margin to 33 points, but the Eagles responded with the next six including four goals to Dunne. The Victorian booted another three in the last term with his tenth goal coming in the games last eight seconds. Brad Vassal was key to the Eagles in the midfield and defender Brad Campbell repelled many Buffalo raids. Liam Philpott (two goals), Jordan Wilson and Mitchell Church were prime performers for Darwin. Wanderers, who take on Palmerston next week, will await the outcome of the NTFL match review panel today with the tribunal set for Wednesday night. It will be a busy week for AFLNT officials with the spiteful clash between St Marys and Waratahs also expected to come under video review, while Tiwi Bombers midfielder Bradley Palipuaminni was also reported on Saturday.
