1 I. INTRODUCTION Pine Hill Station, occupying an area of 2752km2, is located approximately 150km north of Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway. The location of Pine Hill is shown in Figure A. FIGURE A. Location of Pine Hill Station. A. THE PURPOSE OF THIS SURVEY The purpose of this survey was to acquire baseline information on the land resources of Pine Hill station to assist with management of the property. The information is compiled as a land unit map. This report accompanies the land unit map and includes a detailed description of each land unit, and identifies land management considerations associated with each. The information is intended to compliment the knowledge and experience of the land holder by accurately mapping and formally documenting the land resources. As such it provides a tangible basis for making property management and development decisions. The spatial information is stored in a Geographic Information System (GIS) enabling manipulation of the land information data, output of customised map products, precise calculation of land unit areas, and overlaying of additional information.
