As Director of Research, the appointee will be expected to: 1. lead the development and execution of the Institutes research agenda, including its capacity development activities 2. as a member of the executive team contribute to developing the strategic direction of the organisation 3. ensure high quality research assurance processes, consistent with the Institutes agreed protocols for research and international research standards. 4. lead further development of the Institutes unique approach to research including the focus on generating practical outcomes 5. lead horizon scanning and the ongoing identification of emerging priorities for health research for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people 6. contribute to the securing of external donations for programs of research 7. develop excellent collaborative research relations between the Institute and other members of the research community. Our ideal applicant will have: Academic standing and qualification 1. Standing at professorial level or equivalent (an adjunct appointment with a university is envisaged). 2. A doctorate in a relevant discipline. 3. Significant postdoctoral research and publications. Achievements, qualities and capabilities: 1. Proven experience in research team leadership. 2. Capacity to develop and implement innovative research methodologies, agenda and programs. 3. Strong evidence of ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and organisations and develop strong research partnerships.
