The store, which made headlines last year with its $301 pizza, has become an icon of Palmerston with its fine ingredients, humorous titles and commitment in providing the best tasting pizzas in the area. "The last year has been fantastic, we have had a really good response from the Palmerston residents," Hungry Joe's manager Joe Rotumah said. He said customers enjoyed the unique pizzas like the $301 pizza as many saw the humour from the idea. "The $301 pizza was obviously in tongue-in-cheek joke at the $300 pizza available at (Italian restaurant) Il Piatto, but many locals saw the humour in it," he said. "It's been awesome, the Palmerston residents love the real style of pizzas we make at Hungry Joe's." Rotumah said while many people loved the different styles of pizza Hungry Joe's offer, including the Gobblegutz which had absolutely everything on top, they keep on returning for the quality ingredients and pizzas they provide. "It's all about quality, all about flavour," he said. "We believe in our product, why wouldn't you and that's why I believe we are one of the Territory's favourite pizza place." And Hungry Joe's is about to celebrate its one-year anniversary in style, with the launch of a brand new pizza range, the Chicago-style stuffed pizza. The stuffed pizza is one of a kind in the Top End, with fresh dough laid in a deep dish pan, filled with cheese and toppings, sealed with a thin layer of dough and covered with Hungry Joes famous tomato sauce. "Our customers who are in love with our pizza now have the chance to try something different, which is exclusive only to Hungry Joe's," Rotumah said. "You will never find anything like this in the Territory, it's very similar to calzones, but I think everyone will really love this type of pizza." You can try the brand new Chicago style stuffed pizza at Hungry Joe's in Palmerston, corner of Palmerston Cct and University Ave. One year on and Palmerston residents cant seem to get enough of Hungry Joes pizzas ... have you tried one yet? Red hues can be used either alone or in combination with other colours. Grown in partnership with whites, it will accentuate your reds, acting as the perfect separator colour. Where areas of red appear too intense, inject a little calmness by adding plants with silver hues adjacent to them. There are a wide variety of red plants to choose from, and selecting the right types for companion planting will give a harmonizing effect to your red garden design. Some popular varieties include poinsettia, providing a showy display during the festive season, hibiscus, ixora, calliandra, bougainvillea, roses, scarlet fire-spike, coral plant and red mussaenda. Rosellas are an interesting plant for the garden as are natives such as grevilleas, melaeucas and swamp bloodwood. Red climbers add extra alert to archways, pergolas and fences with the Rangoon creeper, clerodendron and the most fascinating, the New Guinea Creeper. Other trees of interest are the Lipstick and Firewheel trees, Poinciana and the red Sesbania. The queen of all red trees, and one of the most beautiful in the world, is Amherstia nobilis (Pride of Burma). Considered by many in the plant world as a collector's delight, it is also one of the most difficult to source. The colour red symbolizes many things, and in terms of garden themes, if you are considering a red garden that typifies love, passion and warmth, the selection for a tropical garden is diverse. The wet season will have on display in the Darwin and rural areas, many examples that can be seen in your local gardens and parks, or you can visit your local garden and nursery centre. Poinciana's like these near Noonamah on the Stuart Highway, and often mistakenly called Flame Trees, are starting to flower in red bursts of colour at this time of the year If you live in Palmerston, register your dog today to avoid a fine dog registration audits are now being carried out in all suburbs RReedd aalleerrtt ffoorr TToopp EEnndd ggaarrddeennss I ENCOURAGE all residents of Gunn, Gray, Bakewell, Woodroffe and Rosebery to participate in the annual hard waste clean-up of their properties on the weekend of October 24/25. This is a great opportunity to dispose of items that could be a hazard this wet season. Residents can clean out their yards and get rid of their old fridges, building materials, furniture, bikes and other materials which Council will remove free of charge. Items that will not be collected include hazardous materials, green waste, batteries, gas bottle, food scraps, car bodies and paints. Residents are asked to place their items on the kerb in a safe manner, so as not to obstruct any footpaths or roads. Council will provide assistance to pensioners and those who are unable to lift heavy items. This can be arranged by calling 8935 9922. Material will be collected from the kerb first thing Monday, October 26. Trailer loads A reminder to please keep your trailer load covered while travelling to the transfer site. The cost to pick up this extra litter is very expensive and comes from our rates. Be Palmerston proud and cover your load. Annual ride to work day today Congratulations to Spokes NT for organising a breakfast in Goyder Square from 7.30am to 9am today. This is an opportunity for people to get fit and reduce emissions.
