DCLS is committed to social justice and the protection of human rights in the Northern Territory. It is a dynamic, flexible and friendly work environment. We have three solicitor positions available - two community solicitor positions: one full time fixed term (9 months) and one on going part time (up to 4 days per week) position with a particular focus; and one full time welfare rights solicitor position. These positions offer challenging and diverse legal work that will use existing skills and knowledge and provide the opportunity to gain further experience while assisting disadvantaged people and communities. Community Solicitor (Fixed term contract for 9 months) Full-time - 37.5 hours per week This is an exciting full time position, providing legal information, advice and casework assistance on a broad range of legal matters to people in the Top End of the NT. The Community Solicitor will provide Outreach Legal Services face to face and/or by phone at locations in and around the Top End of the NT, deliver community education and be involved in law reform and community development projects. Some travel may be required. Community Solicitor Part-time - up to 30 hours per week This is an exciting part time position, providing legal information, advice and casework assistance on a broad range of legal matters to people in the Top End of the NT. The Community Solicitor will provide Outreach Legal Services face to face and/or by phone at locations in and around the Top End of the NT, deliver community education and be involved in law reform and community development projects. This position will have a particular focus on people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Social Security Rights Solicitor Full-time - 37.5 hours per week The Social Security Rights Solicitor will be responsible for providing legal advice and on-going casework assistance to people affected by social security issues across the NT, prepare and deliver community legal education, and participate in law reform and community development. DCLS pays above award wages and salary packaging is available. DCLSs EBA provides generous conditions of employment including 6 weeks annual leave. Salary range for all these position is NT SACS (DCLS) Award Grade 6 (from $60 480 - $63 274). Applicants must address selection criteria.
