Tenders called for new Tourism strategic plan The Northern Territory Government is calling for tenders to assist with the development of a new Tourism Strategic Plan. The plan is needed to guide the future direction of the Northern Territorys tourism industry from 2013. As part of the first phase of the planning, the government has issued a tender seeking the services of a third-party consultant to assist with the stakeholder engagement process. The Territory Government is also investing $3.1 million to trial an expanded Bush Bus service to provide better transport links for people travelling to and from remote and regional towns. As part the trial, seven new commercial bus services will commence across regional and remote areas of the Territory to build on the five services already in place. Current services include regular Centre Bush Bus Pty Ltd services from Alice Springs to Aboriginal communities including Docker River, Kintore, Tennant Creek, Yuendumu and South Australias Pitjantjatjara Lands. The new services will travel to Ntaria, Areyonga, Nyirripi, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Amoonguna, Borroloola, and Numbulwar. This trial will enable the Northern Territory Government to analyse the outcomes and develop a sustainable model for this service to continue, Minister for Central Australia, Karl Hampton, said.
