In a tightly fought battle at Palmerston Recreation Centre, Tapper and Australian teammates Sarah Lazzaro and Rebecca McDonnell defeated Japan 3-1 in the teams table tennis event. Despite having already claimed victory in the class 10 singles match on Wednesday, Tapper was wary heading into the opening game of the series, but felt her confidence returning once she clinched the first match 3-0. My first match was probably my toughest one and I had two close sets in that so Im glad I got over the line, said the 21-year-old. Pretty much we knew if I could get through that and the doubles we were in with a good chance and we won our doub les 3-0, so Im pretty stoked. She is now looking forward to competing in the China ParaOpen in August, where her reign over the class 10 division will again be tested by some of the worlds best table tennis athletes. But the Melbourne-based Tapper was keen to first celebrate her latest medal success with her teammates. I dont know what were going to do tonight but I hear Mitchell St is all right so well see how it goes.
