Picture: CHRIS SCOTT SYDNEY: Gold Logie winner Karl Stefanovic has acknowledged that sometimes he doesnt think before he speaks after praising his wifes arse in his acceptance speech. The Today Show host told fellow Nine Network star Kerri-Ann Kennerley yesterday morning that his sense of humour sometimes gets him in trouble. I dont have much of a gap between the mind and the mouth . . . I cant really control it, he said. So anything can come out, but you know within reason, but some strange things do come out. Stefanovic had finished his Gold Logie acceptance speech with a special word of thanks to his wife Cass for letting him go on weird and wonderful excursions around the world. Shes a great influence on my life, so thank you so much. Shes also got the best arse Ive ever seen, he said at the ceremony on Sunday night at Melbournes Crown Casino. As well as his habit of speaking without thinking, Stefanovic had also only flown into Melbourne on Sunday morning after covering the royal wedding in London and was surviving on little sleep. He also told Kennerley that he was quite proud of being hailed King Karl on the front page of Melbournes Herald Sun newspaper. I was excited enough already to win . . . but to be on the front page of the Herald Sun, which is a great publication, is amazing, he said. Stefanovic attributed his Gold Logie win to the extraordinary start to the year his show has had covering big stories such as the Queensland floods and the Christchurch and Japan earthquakes. He said the events allowed him to showcase his talents as a journalist. There were very tough stories, the Queensland stories in particular, the floods in Brisbane, in Toowoomba, and also the cyclone in Queensland were really important stories and we were on air for a long time, he said. So I think that, more than anything else, you know highlighted what we do really well on the Today Show. Stefanovic also praised his fellow network star and journalist Laurie Oakes who was inducted into the Logie Awards Hall of Fame. I think as a journalist, guys like Laurie Oaks are extraordinary, they have done years of hard yakka and . . . as a young journalist I would always look up to guys like that, that continue to break stories, he said. MissMarple LONDON: Veteran actress Angela Lansbury has spoken out against plans to remake Miss Marple with Jennifer Garner playing a young version of the elderly spinster sleuth. The Murder, She Wrote star was Agatha Christies famous detective in the 1980 film The Mirror Crackd. Disney recently announced plans to reboot Miss Marple in a new movie showing her as a young woman. Tears as Carell leaves office LOS ANGELES: Steve Carell has confirmed his exit from The Office was an emotional moment as everybody was crying. The funnyman filmed his final scenes for the hit TV comedy back in March and the episode showing his character Michael Scotts departure aired in the US on Thursday. Carell has now admitted he was surprised by the outpouring of sadness as he left the series and said goodbye to his long-time colleagues. I had known for about a year that I was going to be leaving this season and I thought I was emotionally prepared. But, I was really surprised . . . Everybody was crying, he told US TV host Ellen DeGeneres.
