Corporate Overview 12 Our Corporate Governance Framework The corporate governance framework, developed late last year had its first full year of operation. The framework provides a holistic approach to governance based on the seven performance categories identified by Business Excellence Australia and recognises the principles adopted by the Australian National Audit Office. The framework emphasises synergy through alignment and attunement of people and processes to optimise performance and realise our mission. The seven factors include, Customer and stakeholder focus, Business results, Leadership and innovation, Strategy and planning, People; Processes, products and services; and Data, information and knowledge. These factors are bound together through communication and relationships, which are essential to the success of the framework. One of the most significant changes to our corporate governance for 2003/04 has been the change to our corporate directions. The corporate directions have been modified to better address the requirement to achieve cost effective delivery of corporate support services to our customers. Economies of scale have become a key objective to improve our cost effectiveness; But we maintain the balance scorecard approach so as not to lose sight of the equal amount of effort required in support of our people, our customers and the valued services we aim to provide. Our corporate governance commences page 73 and our Corporate Directions 2003 2005 follow on page 13.
