7 Commissioner's Foreword NTPS to join the Australia and New Zealand School of Government Completed Establish a Future Leaders Group (Think Tank) to consider the future direction of the NTPS Exercise completed with recommendations for further action Review the NT Governments wages policy Advice provided Review the NTPS Indigenous Employment and Career Development Strategy Recommendations provided to the Minister Review the Willing and Able Strategy Recommendations provided to the Minister Introduce biennial staff surveys The first survey was ready to commence in July/August 2009 There are still several matters on the agenda which have not been addressed, but will be in 2009-10, they being a; Knowledge Management Strategy, an Innovation/ Recognition/ Reward Strategy and a program to promote public sector values within the NTPS. Merit The ongoing effort to dispel so-called good practice recruitment myths continued, particularly through the development of the Merit Selection Good Practice Guidelines. All of the activities are aimed at having an NTPS that is contemporary in the way it operates for the good of the NT community, and remains an attractive employer. Like all areas of the NTPS, OCPEs workload in 2008-09 has been heavy and challenging but rewarding and satisfying at the same time. The commitment of the OCPE staff is second to none and the significant advances we have made in 2008-09 are all down to them. A separate State of the Service Report for 2008-09 has been prepared which provides details of the state of human resource management in the NTPS, and a statistical analysis of state of the service indicators. Ken Simpson Commissioner for Public Employment 30 September 2009
