Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment Annual Report 2008-09 70 Overview The OCPE is fortunate to employ a committed, professional and diverse staff group, and remains devoted to the founding and upholding of best practice human resources management, embracing innovation, strategy and respect. Staff receive opportunities to work within a flexible environment, maintain work-life balance, undertake learning and developmental needs, and positively contribute to the OCPEs growth. The OCPE is responsible for providing an efficient, successful employment framework for management of the entire NTPS. In accomplishing this, the OCPE remains committed to providing high quality human resource management within the OCPE and sector wide. The Human Resources Unit is responsible for all employee affairs such as learning and development, providing advice on employment conditions, early intervention, and recruitment and advertising of positions. Human Resources act in accordance with the OCPE 2008-2011 Strategic Plan. During the reporting period a Welcome Pack was drafted for new employees in order to improve the efficiency of the commencement process with a view to being implemented in the 2009-10 year. Additionally, feedback forms for exiting employees has been implemented, facilitating awareness on trends of existing employees from the OCPE. In order to maintain compliance with Employment Instructions several corporate policies were reviewed by HR, endorsed by the Commissioner and made available to OCPE employees via the staff intranet during the reporting period. The following policy statements were revised: Meal and Temperate Clothing Allowances Special Leave Without Pay Probation Overtime/Time off in Lieu Access to employee records and Higher Duties Allowance.
