Synoptic summary At the start of the month a trough, moving ahead of a frontal system, moved into the southwest corner of the Northern Territory. A cloudband associated with the trough brought rainfall to the Alice Springs district in the first few days of the month. East to northeast winds prevailed across the Top End in the first week of the month. On the 7th, a heat trough joined northwest Australia and eastern Australia through the Northern Territory. A high pressure system moved across southern parts of the Northern Territory during the second week. During the third week, a broad area of low pressure persisted over most of the Territory. During this time a cloud band over southern parts of the Northern Territory produced widespread rainfall in the Alice Springs District. Another trough, on the 19th, extended into the Alice Springs District. A trough moved across the Territory during the first few days of the fourth week, before a high pressure system dominated central Australia. A low that formed over the Top End on the 23rd, moving westwards off the northwest coast on the 24th, brought some rainfall over the Roper-McArthur and Darwin-Daly Districts.
