Technical Report WRD92039 Viewed at 15:07:17 on 29/07/2010 Page 16 of 192. (14.5 bit) resolution of analogue data is adequate to meet any foreseeable requirement of the data acquisition system. The logger is featured by a non-volatile (removable) v la an IB:t-1 memory module. communication with the logger is compatible computer and menu driven software is used to establish procedures. set up parameters and conduct interrogation The hardware consists of a sealed ABS enclosure, housing t'.vo rechargeable 6V batteries, a memory module and solid state componentry. Thl" input/output connections are submersible and located at the opposite end of the box to the communications port. Torrens Loqger The Torren.3 data logger (see Plate 2) is described as a d 1 d f- b- d t 1 As standard, _it mo u .. ar an recon_lgura 1e a a ogger. consists of 5 E:uro card sized cards mounted in a 9 card rack and enclosed in a sealed polyester box and configured to service the digital inputs of a rain gauge It is reconfigurable to accept analogue addi tion of the appropriate cards. It has and shaft encoder. inputs with the 16 bit resolution of data and is considered adequate for the purposes of the data acquisition system. Tl:e standa:cd power supply is from three 6V lOAH batteries inside the box .. Facility exists for solar charging with the connect:ion of a solar panel. connections are via Cannon Hilitary Specif:Led connectors on the side of the box. communication with the logger is via menu driven software and a computer connected to a 9 pin RS232 socket located on the comruunications card. The logger trialled vias equipped with facility for four analogue inputs. It is capable of logging a number of channels per input at variable logging interval. Data is stored on an EPROH module.
