GROUNDWATER RESOURCES 5.1 General Du~ing July 1983 a program of geophysical surveying, followed by drilling and test pumping, was initiated ir. three Areas (see Figure 13) to determine the prospects 0: developing mine water requirements f~om groundwater. The three areas are located within a 5 km radius of the mine site. The intention of the program was not to locate and prove the total water requirement but rather to indicate that with further investigation there was scope for developing the total supply from sources close to the mine site. A report on the survey, includi:'1g equipment used, methods and results is ?!"ese::1ted i:1 Appendix 2. 5.2.1 Objectives The objective of the sl'r"vey was to identify potential groundwater bearing zones associated with either deep l,.;eathering 0::::- fracturing in 'the bedrock. These areas arc reflected by low apparent resistivity values as indicated on the profiles.
