I.)hllst qunntitative d.etails of the proposal are not yet ~lvnilablc lu Water Division, and while the N.T. r.ovC'rnment's policy on the increased wat.er supply rt''l'lirements has not yet b8en determined, it is consider-ed t imcly to raise those issues wi i h which the Division has concern, to ensure that these are fUlly addressed in the feasibility studies and E.I.S. From the outset it is stressed that, because of the geographic location of the mine in relation to the township dnd local water resour.ces, l he environmental issues are f,otcnlially complex and intcr-reli'lt<:>d. It is quite likely that issues not already identified will arise. I.JATER SOURCE Recent groundwater investi0otions have led to the establishment of a borefield within 3 km to the NW of Pine Creek townsllip. This bor:efield, which is to be hooked up ill conjunction wi th the existing supply bores this dry season, will ~Jovide a total estimated yield of about 150 000 kL!annum, whirh is sufficient only for the needs of the existing community. 7:DY2
