Technical Report WRD84006 Viewed at 14:07:13 on 29/07/2010 Page 2 of 60. Synopsis A groundwater investigations project was conducted at Gali,,,inku, Elcho Island, between September and November 1981. Production bores drilled to upgrade the water supply can be expected to meet demands until at least 1990. A review of data is recommended at that stage. A westerly dipping sandstone subcrops in the communi ty area. Investigation bores identified the aquifer to be within its moderately weathered horizon. To the west, where the sandstone is overlain by impermeable fine sediments, the aquifer exists in the interface zone. Bores constructed in the aquifer can be expected to yield around 15 Lis. The annual safe yield from the aquifer has been estimated to be in the order of 3000 ML. 1:REP3
