Technical Report WRD84006 Viewed at 14:07:13 on 29/07/2010 Page 60 of 60. (c) SAFE YIELD It is considered that the more realistic estimate of safe yield would be that calculated from estimated recharge since no data exists on water level fluctuations in the aquifer system. However, given the possibility that salt water intrusion may occur it would be prudent to limit daily extraction to the groundwater throughflow that has been estimated to occur at the end of a dry season following an 'average wet' season. Thus the safe yield of the aquifer system should be considered to be 3000 ML/year until such time as enough data becomes available to enable the estimate to be further refined.
