6 Bayticol Pour-on The use of Bayticol Pour-on for tick control and for clearing cattle tick prior to inspection and treatment for movement of cattle to tick free areas was banned in 2002 following the cancellation of registration of the chemical product. Bayticol Pour-on Cattle Tickicide is NOW only registered for use as a Live Export Clearing Tickicide prior to IMMEDIATE export. The Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicine Authority (APVMA) began a review of the product in December 2001 following concerns that the use of the product according to label instructions would result in beef fat residues that exceeded the Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) and would pose a potential risk to Australias international trade. In February 2002, Bayer voluntarily requested that the APVMA cancel the registration of Bayticol Pour-on Cattle Tickicide. The APVMA cancelled the registration of Bayticol Pour-on Cattle Tickicide on 31 March 2002 with a consumer recall period ending on 31 August 2002 There is a clear label on the product container clearly pointing out the conditions for use. RESTRAINTS:- Do NOT USE on any animals other than cattle intended for immediate live export. Do NOT apply as a single shot. Do NOT apply more than once. NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE OR IN ANY MANNER CONTARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION. The use of this product as a general pour-on tickicide poses a serious risk to Australias overseas trade in beef, because Flumethrin - the active constituent of Bayticol pour-on is not registered in some overseas countries.
