Ii N()~'ember 2000 certifying that the container and its contents (if applicable) have been thoroughly cleaned of all cargo residues and found to be free of Giant African snails; (c) the container is accompanied by a certificate, issued by a service provider acceptable to the Chief Inspector, certifying that the container and its contents (if applicable) (i) have been fumigated with methyl bromide at the rate of 128g per cubic metre for 24 hours at a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius or above; or (ii) have been treated in accordance with an approved treatment. 2. Procedure if no prior inspection or certification of empty container If an empty container from an exporting country specified in Schedule 1 has not been inspected in accordance with clause l(a), or is not certified in accordance with clause (l)(b) or (c), the Chief Inspector or inspector must (a) require the container (i) to be fumigated with methyl bromide at the rate of 128g per cubic metre for 24 hours at a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius or above; or (ii) to be treated in accordance with an approved treatment, and then release the container; or (b) require the container to be opened within an area referred to in clause 4(1), inspect the container, and (i) if it is found to be free of Giant African snails, require the container to be closed and then release the container; or Oi) if it is found to contain Giant African snails, require the container to be closed, ensuring no Giant African snails have escaped from it, and require the container
