This is a $3.1 million (4%) improvement on the prior year and is due to the net surplus after tax and dividends. The value of the vehicle fleet at year end has increased by $4.3 million from the prior year mainly due to the modernisation of the fleet, a small increase in vehicle numbers (2%) and the introduction of a rolling capital replacement program for heavy vehicles. The implementation of the heavy vehicle replacement program has been funded by a $4 million loan from the Northern Territory Treasury Corporation. The Department of Corporate and Information Services has commented: DCIS acknowledges the Auditor-Generals analysis.
