The 23-year-old victim suffered head injuries and was treated in Royal Darwin Hospital. Police said he was unco-operative and intoxicated when admitted. Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said that the attack was targeted. We believe the victim knew his attackers, she said. A silver grey Holden Commodore sedan pulled up in Wagaman Tce just before 10pm on Thursday. Two men one much taller than the other jumped out, punched the victim to the ground and kicked him in the head. The men jumped back in their car and fled the scene when a girl in the car shouted: Righto, thats enough. Supt Jorgensen said: The taller man gave him one last swift kick and the men got back into the car and sped off. Several residents witnessed the attack. Police last night appealed for witnesses. They particularly want to identify the vehicle, which made a rumbling engine sound. Anyone with information can call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Food personality Maggie Beer, with a fresh Territory mango Picture: STUART WALMSLEY Great Beer goes down well in NT SENIOR Australian of the Year and food guru Maggie Beer received a superstar welcome to Darwin yesterday. The chef and media identity was at a morning tea reception at Parliament House. She was in Darwin at the end of a trip through the NT as part of a Tour of Honour for winning the national accolade. Ive had the most extraordinary welcome, she said. Ive been made to feel at home by the country and city people. Ms Beer, who stars in The Cook and the Chef, said she fell in love with the Territory after two visits to Alice Springs three years ago and Darwin two years ago. During her visit, she has spent time talking about food, overseeing healthy programs and promoting eating well. Ms Beer said that it was an honour to be named Senior Australian of the Year. We should celebrate our seniors, there are so many who go on to do so many things, she said. You must think of someone in your world to nominate. Nominations close on August 28.
