Opportunities Northern Territory What is ABC Open? ABC Open is an exciting new initiative which will see 45 new ABC producers working in regional Australia to help create and share your stories and ideas. This is a new way for the ABC to share ideas of regional Australia with the world. The ABC Open project will provide the tools and platforms to help people participate in lots of different ways - by joining groups, writing blogs, creating stories through photos, video, audio and text and collaborating with each other online. In the Northern Territory two ABC Open Producers are about to begin their work in Katherine and Alice Springs, with more to come over the next two years. To find out more: W: www.abc.net.au/open/ Darwin Festival looking for Volunteers It is not too late to register to volunteer at this years Darwin Festival 2010, taking place from 12-19 August 2010. The festival is looking for volunteers to help deliver this enormous event in a variety of areas including box office, front of house, administration, ushering and many more. Volunteers are a vital, fun and energetic group of people who make the wheels turn. To register your interest sign up now or for more information contact the volunteer coordinator: T: 08 8943 4211 W: www.darwinfestival.org.au 24HR Art Call for Art Work and Experimental Video Work for 2011 24HR Art - The Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art invites media artists to submit contemporary artwork for the 2011 BOXSET program and experimental video work for the 2011 Monitor program. The 24HR Art BOXSET Program is comprised of a window space (2 x 2 x 1m) at the front of the gallery and is a free exhibition space, available to the public in 24 hours a day. The 24HR Art Monitor Program is comprised of an outdoor screen and weatherproof speakers at the front of the gallery. Work is to be played on a loop during gallery hours. Fast becoming known as the ARIAs of the Aboriginal music scene, the Indigenous Music Awards will take place on Saturday 28th August in Darwin. Music NT calls upon anyone working in the national music industry to participate in the nomination process for the 2010 Indigenous Music Awards. W: www.musicnt.com.au Free Forum Theatre Workshops at Chambers Crescent Theatre, Malak From 1 - 24 July The workshops will be facilitated by Alyson Evans, a Community Drama Development Worker visiting Darwin from Wales. The sessions will give participants a chance to explore Augusto Boal's methods, whether you're new to this work or want to develop existing skills in this style of theatre. Introduction sessions have begun and will run 6pm to 9pm on Thursday's 1st, 8th and 15th of July. These sessions will focus on exploring Boal's games and exercises, progressing into an introduction to Rainbow of Desire techniques which focuses on internal oppressions. Follow up workshops are available on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July 10am to 3pm, exploring image and forum theatre, an interactive style of theatre where the audience are in control of the action.
