Thunder sits in fourth spot, on percentage, ahead of Mt Gravatt, and after the bye this weekend they face the Brisbane Lions and Aspley in Queensland, followed by games against Labrador and Broadbeach at Gardens Oval. Of those four sides, Labrador is the only one ahead of the Territory on the ladder, with Broadbeach the next highest in seventh place. The week off now comes at a very important time as we look to gain some key players back from injury and freshen a few of our players up that have worked hard to enjoy the break, Thunder coach Murray Davis (pictured) said. It was a mid-season resurgence that saw Thunder climb from a lowly ninth after Round 4 with a 1-3 win-loss record, to sit in fourth place for the last five weeks. Some season-defining wins came against Southport at Mar rara in Round 8, Mt Gravatt in Brisbane in Round 10 and more recently, a win against reigning premiers Morningside in Darwin in Round 13. The Vultures and Redland are Thunders main threat heading into the tail end of the season. But with the Bombers a game out of the finals and Mt Gravatt to face Morningside, Southport and the Lions remaining, Thunder is poised to create history. Cotchin depending on appeal Trent Cotchin faces three weeks on the sidelines unless he successfully appeals his charge at the AFL Tribunal AFL ByADAMCOOPER inMelbourne ONLY a successful tribunal challenge can prevent Richmond failing in their plea for the AFL match review panel to spare midfielder Trent Cotchin, who faces a hefty suspension for charging. Cotchin is likely to be suspended for three games for crashing into the back of North Melbournes Sam Wright at the MCG on Sunday, which left the Kangaroo with concussion. Cotchin will risk a four-game ban if the Tigers opt to challenge at the tribunal on Tuesday. Im obviously very disappointed in myself, more so because I let the team down, Cotchin said last night. I probably needed to put the hand out to spoil which would have made it look not as bad as it was. Richmond coach Damien Hardwick on Sunday hoped the panel would judge Cotchins contact the same way it had when assessing a similar charge against Essendons David Hille earlier this year. Hille crashed into the back of Geelongs Jimmy Bartel but escaped penalty, which renewed questions about the judicial systems consistency. North defender Daniel Pratt on Monday admitted players were frustrated by inconsistencies handed down by the panel. Pratt said the playing body was close to demanding the AFL review the judicial system and the panels workings. Theres too many inconsistencies now, he said. The speed of the games increased so much that decisions like that, for Cotchin to stay or go, if you put it in context of when hes got the football, if he makes the wrong decision with the ball ... its just a turnover, butif youmake awrong decision there you can find yourself getting weeks. It would be good if they could have a look at it and the sooner the better.
