PAGE 6PRESS JULY 2010 EDITION GIVE COUNCILTHE DRUM Coomalie Council through the drumMUSTER program has commenced the set up of collection points for community members to return their eligible farm chemical containers for recycling. drumMUSTER is the National program that has been set up for the collection and recycling of cleaned eligible non returnable crop production and on-farm animal health chemical containers. As a chemical user, drumMUSTER provides you with a defined point to safely dispose of your used chemical containers. All you are required to do is clean your containers so they are free of any chemical residue then deliver them to one of the collection sites set up in the council area as per the steps below: Ensure your container is a drumMuster APPROVED container. Look for the logo on the label or stamped on the container (see logo below) Triple rinse your chemical containers IMMEDIATELY after use Pour the RINSE WATER back into your spray tank Make sure ALL chemical residue is removed REMOVE LIDS to allow your containers to DRY thoroughly. Take lids SEPARATELY to collections Metal containers should be PUNCTURED from the top through the bottom DELIVER your eligible, clean, empty containers to the drumMUSTER collection site Collection sites will be at the Council Depot in Batchelor and the town dump at Adelaide River. IMPORTANT: Collection points can only take APPROVED chemical containers. OIL DRUMS ARE NOT SUITABLE and should not be dumped at these sites! Chemical SprayingTraining Expressions of interest are sought from members of the Coomalie community to participate in a chemical accreditation course in SmartTrain andTreatWeeds Modules. A date for the training will be set in Aug/Sep 2010 providing enough participants register their interest.
