The development of the Queensland Mines operation at Narba1ek would' involve a construction force of some 300 to 400 men for two and a half years and subsequently drop to about 180 men to maintain the operation. 1660 Mr ROBERTSON to Mr RYAN ANSWER How many fire officers are there in the Northern Territory fire service and how many, under the new bill, ar.e. senior. officers and where are they? There are 16 officers in the Northern Territory Fire Brigade. I am not quite sure where they are all located atid lam unaware of .thenumber of senior fire fighters or their locat;:tQIt. I will get this. information and relay it to the honourable meml:ler .. later in these si"ttings. 1661 Mr EVERlNGHAM to Mr RYAN ANSWER At the last sittings, I asked him certain questions regarding a lease that had been granted in Darw~n some years ago for the purpose of establishing a marina. Has' he any answers to those 4 or 5 questions? I rang the Assistant Secretary concerned with land this morning and he informed me that an answer is in fact in the system somewhere. I asked him if he could possibly get it out of the system and up to the Assembly so that I can give the honourable member an answer so that he may have a happy and worry free Christmas. 1662 Mr DONDAS to Miss ANDREW . What measures has she taken to reintroduce vagrancy laws for the Northern Territory? ANSWER The Police and Police Uffences Ordinance is currently under review with the idea of replacing itwith 2 separate ordinances. The matter of vagrancy no doubt will be raised during the preparation of these bills. 1663 Mr EVERlNGHAM to Mr TUXWORTH ANsWER I asked a question at the last sittings 'regarding the government'~em ber on the Tourist Board sacking himself from the' board by not a.t.tending 3 consecutive meetings. The honourable executive member was' .going to find out why this happened. I would like toknow why. I have sought from the Chairman of the. rourist Board in writing, the reasons for the non-appearance of the government member at the meetirigs. As yet, I have not received a reply but I assure' the honourable member that I will do everything in my power to see that he' gets the information.
