In the last financial year the heritage advisers provided advice in relation to 31 projects. Available funding under the NTHGP was increased to $174,000 for the 2000-2001 round of funding. A total of 14 projects were funded under the 2000-2001 round of the NT Heritage Grant Program (NTHGP). Applications for the 2001-2002 NTHGP closed in March. A total of 25 applications were received for projects worth in excess of $460,000. Education and Promotion Continued to play a role in the co-ordination and development of the NT Heritage Trails. Completion of the first virtual trail on the web, the Northern Goldfields Loop. Award of the NT Heritage Prize 2001. Representatives conducted a conservation training course at Mann River. Representation at the National Information Officers Network Meeting in Sydney in March. Policy and Strategy A representative of Environment Australia addressed Council at its 47th Meeting to outline the Commonwealths new heritage strategy. Representation at the National Heritage Chairs and Officials Meeting to discuss various policy and strategic issues facing heritage in the 21st century.
