Clause 6 read Mr Manzie moved the following amendment Omit from subclause (1) "1 June. 1987 and tabled" and insert in its stead "31 July 1987 and subsequently tabled". Amendment agreed to. Clause. as amended. agreed to. Clauses 7 to 10. by leave. taken together and agreed to. Clause 11 read Mr Manzie moved the following amendment Omit from proposed section 9(2)(b) "Part III" and insert in its stead "Parts II and IV". Amendment agreed to. Clause. as amended. agreed to. Clause 12 read Mr Manzie. by leave. moved the following amendments together Omit from proposed section 9A(4) "Part III" and insert in its stead "Parts II and IV". Omit from pro~osed section 9A(5) "Part III" and insert in its stead "Parts II and IV". Amendments agreed to. Clause. as amended. agreed to. Clauses 13 to 19. by leave. taken together and agreed to. New clause Mr Manzie moved - That the following new clause be inserted in the Bi 11 NEW CLAUSE "20. AMENDMENT OF LIMITATION ACT "The Limitation Act is amended by inserting in Division 2 of Part IV. before section 49, the following: '48A. ABROGATION OF RULE IN WELDON v NEAL '(I) If a court would. but for the expiry of a relevant period of limitation after the day a proceeding in the court has commenced. allow a party to amend a document in the proceeding. the court shall allow the amendment to be made if it is satisfied that no other party to the proceeding would by reason of the amendment be prejudiced in the conduct of that party's claim or defence in a way that could not be met by an adjournment. an award of costs or otherwise. '(2) This section does not apply to an amendment in a proceeding commenced before the commencement of this section.'.". 109
