Lets hope we can continue our success. Do you want to increase your weekly exercise level? Come and join us on Wednesdays in Term 2 at Dripstone Lions Park, Casuarina Beach for a 2 or 3 km stroll, jog or run. All family members are welcome and can contribute points to their childs Primary or Middle School tally. Runs are timed so that you can monitor your improvement each week. School Cross Country starts with a course familiarisation run on Wednesday 14th April and then occurs each Wednesday for 8 weeks. Run starts promptly at 5.00pm so it is advisable to arrive between 4.30 and 4.45pm. The only cost is the initial purchase of a competitor number. Numbers can be purchased at the table before the start of the run. For $2.00 competitors are entitled to run for the 8 weeks of competition. On the final night, 9th June, every student competitor runs for him/herself and individual ribbons are awarded for each age group in both boys and girls. Volunteers will be needed to assist with marshalling and recording. Satellite City BMX Satellite City BMX Club is holding a come and try day on Saturday 17th April 2010 at Satellite City BMX club located at Marlows Lagoon, Palmerston between 2pm 5pm. BMX is a fast paced exciting sport. Riders sprint around a dirt track 300400 meters long, with jumps and turns. In 2008 BMX made its Olympic debut in Beijing. Now is a great time to get involved in BMX so get on your bike and head to your local track to experience first hand the speed and excitement. We have riders ranging in age from 4 years old to 64 years of age. Riders of all ages, genders and riding abilities can take part in BMX. It offers a great alternative to those sports traditionally offered to primary school kids being full of excitement and FUN! For more information about dates and times you can visit our website www.bmxaustralia.com.au or alternatively contact the BMXA office on 02 9339 5800 or bmx.info@cycling.org.au or contact Gavan Ascoli on 0408110372 Basketball Exchange (Years 46) The Basketball Exchange Gala day was held on Wednesday 24th March at Marrara Basketball Stadium. Essington had four teams, two girls and two boys teams. Essington 1 boys came first in division 1. It was a fierce final between our boys and Nightcliff. The final score of 22 12 showed the quality of our players. Our Essington Boys 2 side came third in their division with many close games. The Essington Girls 1 side came fourth and competed against some quality teams. The Essington Girls 2 side came equal second. They were only four points off first place. Well done to all players for displaying excellent sportsmanship.
