Both were very successful with our students performing and behaving well. We also had pleasing participation numbers. Thankyou to those parents who helped out on the day. The next try day is on March 18. Basketball will be held at Durack Primary School and AFL will be held at the Palmerston Magpies oval. Both groups will meet at Driver in the morning and will walk to and from the venues. Both try days are free. Students do not have to have played the sport before to participate. Interschool AFL Results - So far we have played two rounds. In round one we played against Good Shepherd. Both teams put in a good effort but the Driver team was able to manufacture more scoring efforts. The final scores were Driver 21 goals 7 behinds 133 points Good Shepherd 1 goal 2 behinds 8 points Round two was cancelled due to wet weather. Round three saw our team up against Moulden. This was a hard fought game with Moulden fiercely attacking the ball. The Driver players had to use their finely tuned skills and play "smart" football to pull off a pleasing win. The final scores were Driver 14 goals 9 behinds 93 points Moulden 3 goals 2 behinds 20 points Games are on Monday afternoons at the Palmerston Magpies ground. Players need to be at the oval by 3:45. Neil Stephenson Sports Teacher ROSEBERY MIDDLE SCHOOL My name is Lorraine Evans and I have recently been appointed as the Principal of Rosebery Middle School. It has been very exciting to join the team who are ensuring the schools are ready for their opening in 2011. You may have noticed that the roof is on much of our new school and that several of the learning neighbourhoods are to lock up stage already. As the Rosebery site is still under construction I have been accommodated at Palmerston High School and wish to thank the Principal Jenny Nash and the Palmerston High School community for their warm welcome. It has been great to run into former students and work colleagues as I have set up my workspace on the PHS campus. The best way to keep up to date with progress at the new schools is through the website at: http://www.det.nt.gov.au/ rosebery and my regular updates in your school community newsletter. Starting on Wednesday 3rd March (Palmerston High School 5.30pm) opportunities will be offered to parents and students to meet me and chat about the plans for Rosebery Middle School. Further opportunities will be offered to local School Councils, Year 6 students and parents. My contact details are below for anyone who would like to get in touch directly as you can imagine I love talking about this amazing facility for our students, their families and the Palmerston Community. I have been fielding quite a few queries regarding how to enrol for 2011. Rosebery Middle School enrolment interviews and applications will commence during second semester and enrolment forms will be distributed to all Palmerston primary schools and to Palmerston High School. Information sessions will also be held later in the year but I am more than happy to meet with you now to answer any questions you may have about the fantastic new facility for our middle years students. It has been great to return to the vibrant and innovative learning community of Palmerston City Schools and I look forward to working and learning with you again. See you soon Kind regards, Lorraine Evans Principal Rosebery Middle School (08) 89350279 (Currently located at Palmerston High School) email@example.com
