The leading goal kicker was Ephrem Tipungwuti with 52 goals. This award was sponsored by Pe ter Baldwin and we thank him for that support. Because this was the first presentation night it provided the opportunity to recognise the efforts of those involved in the first 2 seasons. Firstly all of the players and the coach for the first year ( 07/08 ) received a certificate an being part of the inaugural team. Secondly the volunteer award 07 to 09 went to the Toy Family ( Bill, Alice and Mick ) for their huge contribution over 2 years. Thirdly the best and fairest awards for the first 2 years went to 07/08 Runner-up - Roy Farmer Best and Fairest - Edward Darcy 08/09 Runner-up - Sampson Mungatopi Best and Fairest - Bradley Palipuaminni The runner-up to the B&F for 2009/10 was Edward Darcy and Graham Dunstan sponsored that award and we thank him for that. The Best and Fairest player for 2009/10 was Rupert Pupungamirri. Rupert was awarded the John Pye Medal sponsored by ITEC and we thank ITEC for their support which also included the cost of a trip to see an AFL game in Melbourne. A big thank you to ITEC for this support . ITEC will also produce a medal for each of the winners for the first 2 seasons. The presence of B2M helped make the night a real buzz with their great music. Thank you for that. Some feedback I have had is that the night was moving, motivational, entertaining and a fitting way to recognise those who have done so much this year. For me it was all of that plus it represents the beginning of another part of this new Clubs culture. An annual event to present awards and to thank people. Finally I was blown away by the excitement , the feel and the passion that filled the room when B2M lead enthusiastic players and others in singing the Bombers victory song. That was fantastic, wonderful and a very moving scene. Again thank you to all involved and congratulations to the award winners. As the victory song says: The Black Storm Birds are Coming . With 2 games to win we now have the challenge in front of us to keep up the hard work and commitment and finish the year on a high.
