Handyman Jake Tyson (pictured) hopes to follow in the footsteps of Paul Hogan, Jamie Durie and Steve Irwin and cash in on the novelty of being a knockabout bloke from DownUnder. Tyson, 33, already affectionately known as theHandsome Handyman to US audiences, has been offered a production deal for a home renovations show by Endemol, the teambehind global hits includingDeal or NoDeal,Big Brother and ExtremeMakeover. A carpenter by trade, Tyson is already a regular on US TV and has endeared himself to audienceswith his laid-back approach. Tyson said he had in fact been offered a contract to shoot 13 onehour episodes. Its a DIY showwith a reality twist, Tyson said. But its something no one has ever done before. He said filmingwould start in March and contestants would be hunted from around the US.
