www.ntnews.com.au Northern Territory News, Monday, December 14, 2009 23 P U B : NTNE-WS-DA-TE:14-DGE:23 CO-LO-R: C-M Y-K Gunsberg takes on new radio gig Every actor, musician, band or model seems to pass through LA andthe great thing is that well be there now ANDREWGunsberg has scored his own Saturday Night Live. Hes hosting a new radio show fromLos Angeles where he lives for up to nine months of the year. With his wife, actor-turned-television producer Noa Tishby, based in the entertainment capital, Gunsberg is Statesidewhenever hes not fronting the Channel 10 talent questAustralian Idol. His new gig is TheHot Hits Live from LA, a four-hour show thats direct from Tinseltown on a Saturday night, airing DownUnder on Sundays from2pm-6pm because of the time difference. On 70 radio stations including Fox FM in Melbourne, it will feature celebrity interviews, gossip, crosses tomajor events, in-studio performances and, of course, tunes. Gunsberg has dropped his AndrewG. moniker, saying: Im 35,married, real name, real hair . . . its about time. He believes the new show is about putting Aussies in direct contact with their favourite artists. Every actor, musician, band ormodel seems to pass through LA and the great thing is that well be there now, he says. Australians have been reliant onmaybe getting a third-tier actor from a movie on a press junket for a five-minute chat in front of a poster. Nowwere able to get on the domestic American press circuit so as release dates change and theworld shrinks ever further andmovies come out on the same day worldwide, were able to get in on that first round of interviews. Gunsberg (pictured) had been hosting theweekendmusic countdown Take 40 Australia for five years. Sydney-based Austereo jocks Tim and Biggzywill fill in over summer until a permanent host is appointed in the new year. Gunsberg saysHot Hits has been awhile in themaking. Ive been trying to get this show up for a couple of years, he says. Enough people got involved to be able to bash it into something good. The planets aligned and technology has come around and here we are. He promises an irreverent, true-blue flavour to proceedings. Lets look at this as if were at a zoo, he says. Lets look through the glass at all the funny animals in Hollywood. Thats basically where the shows coming from. Hes also looking forward to catching up with the gumleafmafia, the legion of homegrown performers who live in LA.
