NAPLAN RESULTS We have received our corrected Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 NAPLAN Literacy and Numeracy results sheet and will mail these to parents next week. The corrected overall results we have received from the Department of Education are outstanding with our literacy and numeracy results being significantly above the national average and very significantly above the Northern Territory average. Congratulations to our students on the excellent standards they have achieved, and to our teachers, teaching assistants, parents and administrators who have worked hard on continuing to move our students ahead. BUILDING UPDATE: The Computer Centre and the Middle School Toilets are now completed and will be used by our students from next Monday. Work on the Extended and Refurbished Assembly Hall is behind schedule and we will need to re-arrange the construction timetable to allow us to recover the use of this area from Monday 19th October. This will mean that some future work to complete the project may be confined to weekends or deferred to the middle of December when school holidays commence. Thank you for your patience over the last three months as this building work has taken place. It will be a great facility for the school once it is fully completed. Our new playground equipment has been installed and the concrete edging around the playground completed. Additional smaller pieces of play equipment have now been ordered for the Chapman Road end of the playground and should arrive in the middle of Term 4. The two older pieces of equipment, the Fort and the A Frame, will be refurbished in coming weeks to provide creative play areas for the children. The installation of our new fire alarms and PA system (Junior School and Middle School) is now complete and we now have a complete and new PA system through out the school. Planning is underway to go to tender for our next round of building programs. The first of these is due to commence in December as soon as our students go on holidays. This will be a new Transition Classroom and adjacent play area (on the corner of Chapman Road and Rossiter Street). Please remember that our stunning new Computer Centre, our 20th Anniversary Building, is fully funded by the School and we will need to seek corporate sponsorship and do fund raising to help pay for this excellent facility. All donations to our tax deductible Building Fund are appreciated. ENROLLING FOR TERM 4 AND 2010 We have had an unusually large number of enrolment requests for places at the school this term and for next term, and for 2010. We are busy interviewing prospective parents and students for the few available places we have, or will have, for next year. We have had several students commence in the last week and more starting at the beginning of Term 4. If you know people who are planning to enrol for 2010, please ask them to do so early as our numbers are very tight. Please encourage your friends who are planning to enrol for next year to do so early so they are not disappointed. David Cannon Principal/CEO From the Assistant Principal PRESCHOOL/EARLYLEARNING Welcome to Term 4 I hope you have had a great school holiday break and a big welcome back to all our students and families. I extend a warm welcome to all our new students and families. It has been a very smooth start to the term and we look forward to a busy and productive Term 4.
