117 Appendix 5 Grants The Office of Crime Prevention administers the NT Crime Prevention Grant Scheme. The program is aimed at supporting community crime prevention projects that build safer communities. In 2005-06, grant amounts and recipients were: Organisation Project description Amount Karama / Malak Neighbourhood Watch Karama Philadelphia Indonesian Congregation Church Security Project. $2,000 Top End Catholic Aboriginal Corporation Upgrade Security and Fencing Around St Martins De Porres Catholic Aboriginal Community. $2,500 Coomalie Community Government Council Security Lighting - Batchelor Oval Surrounds. $2,500 Nauiyu Nambiyu Community Government Council Building a Safer and Healthier Nauiyu Community by: 1. Diminishing or preventing break-ins through use of screens and locks for Council office; 2. Developing a safer, more secure area for residents to consume alcohol; and 3. Training four female night patrol workers to become closely involved with female drinkers in the Wet Area to minimise physical violence. $4,000 Alice Springs Womens Shelter Inc Support for Reclaim the Night March and Activities. $5,000 Victims of Crime NT Inc Victim Support Australasia Annual Conference 2006. $5,000 East Arnhem Crime Prevention Council / East Arnhem Harmony Mawaya Mala Inc Enhanced Patrol Story for the Gove Peninsula Community Patrols: Gunyangara, Nhulunbuy and Yirrkala. $5,000 Mawul Rom Association Mawul Rom Project - Traditional and Contemporary Mediation and Leadership Training. $5,000 Somerville Community Services Inc Transitional Living Skills Support Program - The project targets Katherine youth at risk of developing difficulties in the transition from home/school to work/independence.
