11 Community Benefit Fund Annual Report 2007-2008 Funding Round July to December 2007 The Community Benefit Fund Committee assessed 190 applications in the first round and recommended that 124 grants be paid, totalling $351 500. The Minister approved the Committees recommendations. Funding Round January to June 2008 The Community Benefit Fund Committee assessed 133 applications in the second round and recommended that 117 grants totalling $348 811 be approved. The Minister approved the Committees recommendations. A summary of the grants paid by region is provided in Table 1. Vehicle Gift and Long-Term Loans A 2006 Cabinet Decision approved the transfer of responsibility for recommending vehicle gifts and long-term loan allocations to the Community Benefit Fund Committee. Applications are called for on a biannual basis, with similar criteria to that of Community Organisation grants. During 2007-2008, a total of 74 vehicle gift and 5 vehicle long-term loan applications were received. The CBF Committee recommended thirteen vehicle gifts (one of which was later withdrawn as a result of the organisation folding) and three long-term loans. These recommendations were endorsed by the Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing and approved by the NT Treasurer under the Financial Management Act. Table 3 lists the vehicles approved in 2007-2008.
