Vollie News 14 August 2007 Page 2 Casuarina Centre Security Gwyn Balch New security measures at Casuarina Headquarters As many of you may have noticed, there are some changes occurring to Casuarina SJA (NT) Headquarters. These changes aim to enhance security arrangements for both for buildings and St John NT vehicles. All adult members of Operations Branch who have access cards will be able to open the gates on Rowling Street. If somebody doesnt have an access card or forgets their card, there is a side gate (off Rowling Street near the main gate) with a combination lock like the one on the kitchen door at Casuarina Centre which will give people access to the building. As members of St John all cadets can be given the combination to this gate so they will have no problems entering the centre. If any adult member requires an access card to Casuarina Centre please contact Gwyn Balch ASAP. Royal Darwin Show from Christine Turner A big thank-you to members who helped out with the Royal Darwin Show, especially those who helped setup and dismantle the First Aid Post, and those who did the late, late shift. For members who helped with set up and dismantle and need their SDP signed off please see me and I will happily sign the relevant part in their SDP booklet. Once again thanks to all who helped in any capacity. Remember to submit your feedback on the Trial OB12's to Virginia Dowson. Mine Rescue Competitions Adjudicators are required for the NT Mine Rescue Competition which will be held Friday 24 to Sunday 26 August 2007 at the Darwin showgrounds. The main competition days are Saturday and Sunday, with the adjudicators brief on Friday morning (if that's possible). Some people will be required to help with the individual skill Friday morning. The Comps start early on the Saturday morning. All those involved will need to be signed in and breath tested prior to commencement. There will be an area where the first aid scene is set up and this is where the adjudicators and cas-sim people will meet. Casualties will need to be made up prior to the start of each scene. There will be time when the helpers can walk around and see other activities. This is a good experience and there is a dinner on the Sunday night for all those who help out. Interested persons to contact Gwyn ASAP. mailto:gwyn.balch@stjohnnt.asn.au?subject=Access%20Card mailto:gwyn.balch@stjohnnt.asn.au?subject=Mines%20Rescue%20Competitions
