Alva served at Heidelberg Military Hospital for 6 weeks in March/April 1942 and transferred to 107 AGH Puckapunyal in April 1942. 1943, the staff of 107 AGH were transferred to Adelaide River, travelling from Melbourne via Adelaide to Alice Springs by train. From Alice Springs to Katherine by truck then Hospital train to Adelaide River. After 15 months in Adelaide River they were sent south on a DC3 to Alice Springs and then back to Melbourne by train. Alva returns to Darwin each February for the reunions.,
