Ellis Bankin refuelling at a homestead on the track. Bankin was a school teacher from Victoria who was doing a motorcycle tour of Central Australia. He became lost and died near Mount Connor in February 1936.
Near the former Primary in Glenroy is a small white cross with a plaque. Inscription " In memory of our late teacher ELLIS BANKIN who died in central Australia",
