An inscribed stone tablet commemorating the landing of Ross and Keith Smith and mechanics Wally Shiers and James Bennett in their Vickers Vimy aircraft G-GADU on 10 December 1919, following the first flight from England to Australia. This victory in the air race gained them 10,000 pounds prize money offered by William Hughes' Australian Government. The stone is said to have been laid on the point at which the Vimy aircraft touched down on Australian soil but there have been arguments to the contrary. The commemorative stone is now surrounded by a semi-circular concrete plinth and stands in a well-tended vacant allotment in Fannie Bay.,
