DH (de Havilland) DH60 G-AAJO of S. G. (Sid) White after his arrival in Darwin following a slow trip from England suffering both engine problems and the effects of malaria he had picked up in the Netherlands East Indies. He had departed England on 17 October and following his arrival at Darwin, camped over night before departing for Sydney via Daly Waters, Charlevill, Longreach, Brisbane and Narromine. On his arrival at Mascot he was unheralded - a seemingly more important ceremony was in progress for the KLM DC-2 which had won the Handicap Section of the Centenary Air Race.
