Mrs. H. "Lores" Bonney, D H Moth. Shows Mrs. Bonney on wing of plane. The aircraft is a DH60 gipsy moth VH-UPV "my little ship" departed Darwin 15 April 1933 arrived Croydon UK 21 June 1933. First woman to fly solo between Australia and England awarded MBE. Maude Rose Rubens was born in South Africa on 20 November 1897. She later married Harry Bonney and became known as 'Lores' Bonney. Bert Hinkler was Mrs Bonney's cousin. Mrs Bonney was a friend of Charles Kingsford Smith.,
